Nice ride! Was it East Camino Cielo you guys were when you were looking down over Santa Barbara and out towards the Channel Islands? You hit some great roads for sure. Santa Rosa Creek Road and Old Creek road are fun options when going south from Cambria too. Did you guys swap bikes during your ride? I would be interesteed in hearing a comparison between the R1100S and the F800ST if so. Cheers!

Hi Tom,

Turn signal will automatically self cancel after approximately 30 seconds or so, if you don't switch it off.

Hi Yuri! Great to hear from you! As you can see I'm trying to take good care of your old machine.
I didn't realize the stock relay could perform the cancel... how do you set this please?
The other reason for Signal Minder is to use the turn signals as running lights. I know it is illegal in CA for the rear but I can turn them off if I need to. Just a little bit more visibility for night riding.

I don't know why did you install that, but BMW has self canceling turn signals out of the box.
Nice blog BTW, I'm the previous owner of your bike.

No kidding Doug! I still instinctively try to catch stuff falling when I open them up now. Might take me a while to get used to it.

Swank...I'm using cardboard right now cause I'm a cheap ass. Good idea here. Cutting that crap is a time consuming task...especially if you need to cut precise. I found a rotozip blade works well but only if you have adjustable speed control on it.

Yeah the duct tape is just until I can find some nice grommets. The slots are 1 x .5 inch. I've checked around at hardware stores and can't find anything that will work. Any suggestions?
